Dronningens by -'The queens village' can be a bit hard to navigate as a newcomer. Below you will find an attempt to guide you through the different areas and highlight some of the best places to go. Compared to cities claiming to 'never sleep' this one really doesn't. The Danes have never been very fussy when it comes to opening hours or serving licenses.. Café Zeleste, Nyhavn, St Strandstraede A good startingpoint for a nights barhopping. Restaurant manager is Swede Magnus Abrahamsson who's got a Café and bar on the first floor, restaurant on the second. Very nice patio where they throw barbecues during summer! Olsen, close to Zeleste, Tel: 33 93 91 95. Trendy restaurant with creative kitchen if somewhat on the expensive side.. Tel: 33 93 91 95. Victors, Hovedvagtsgade/Ny Östergade, Tel: 33 13 36 13 Trendy bar & restaurant PACKED after work serving drinks to yuppieish crowd. Sankt Hans Torv Take a taxi out to this square, cause around it you will find loads of places like in Rue de Lappe in Paris or Covent Garden in London. Like Pussy Galore´s AND Sebastopol AND Mexibar AND Barcelona AND Rust, Guldbergsgade 8. Named after Mathias Rust who landed his plane on the Red Square. Rock/night club open to 05. Back towards the city centre Kruts Karport, Öster Farimagsgade 12 - One of the few places in Northern Europe serving the devilish Absint. Good bar but remember what happened to Vincents ear after drinking the green stuff! Grĺbrödretorv Peder Oxe, A classic, with ok service and ok prices but nothing extraordinary, reliable though. The wine decanters are marked so that you only pay for the amount you drink. The bar downstairs is also worth a visit. Coconut Beach Bar In the basement of restaurant 'Ost&Bof' Sand on the floor, palmtrees and a shower in the corner if you get to hot. Open til 5AM. Krasznapolsky Vestergade 10. A classic bar. Young people in the bar and new art on the walls. Floss. Lars Bjornsstraede 10. One of Copenhage's smallest but coolest bars. You'll often find a mixture of Swedish and Danish rock/pop stars hanging around more or less sober. I noticed a confused Leila K there last time, discussing, with the wall.. Souls Opposite Floss. Good food and bar. Nightclubs Park, Oesterbrogade 79, 5 bars and two dancefloors. Terrace in the summer. A bit young though, around 25. http://www.parkcafe.dk. X-Ray, Boltens gaard, near Kongens Nytorv Lot of people, lot of Swedes, lot of action. Top floor has a more relaxed feeling without the hammering techno from downstairs. Open to 5, quiet before 2. Mojo and Copenhagen Jazzhouse are good Jazz clubs. God tur og god fornřjelse! /Eric KIRK Don't forget Restaurant Kirk. Must be one of the best in Denmark if not Nordic.. Always at least 20 degrees C., Sunset strip, Rodeo Drive, beaches and stars.. The city of angels is divided into several areas, but they're quite close so if you're in town for a couple of days, make sure you try out at least both Santa Monica and West Hollywood. One of the liveliest nightscenes in US, but it does live up to it's clichés though, shallow and not as easygoing as European counterparts. Even the supposedly wildest clubs haven't got the joie de vivre of Barcelona or even Stockholm. Definitly worth a visit though! Key Club, 9039 Sunset Boulevard, 3102745800 Formerly the Gazzarris that launched the Byrds and The Doors, now a styled up club with an.. eclectic audience. Live acts and DJ's + state of the art system. Sky Bar, 8440 Sunset Boulevard, tel. 323-8486025 Housed in the Mondrian Hotel (see below) for a while now; the ultimate rubbing shoulders with celebrities place. For me it's the open air pool area with a spectacular view of LA under the stars that does it. Tough to get in, try and make reservations, or shell out for a room at the Mondrian. Mondrian Hotel , 8440 Sunset Boulevard, tel. 323-6508999 Ian Schrager's (Delano, St Martins Lane) "Starcky" designed hotel with fab view, 24hour gym, and great pool area; very LA! Several restaurants with the newly opened sushi bar as a great alternative in the lobby. Rooms from $280. Chateau Marmont, 8221 Sunset Boulevard, tel. 323-6561010 Modeled after a Norman castle, the Marmont matches the Mondrian in service and celeb presence. So does the bar. Rooms from $200. Cheaper ones are e.g. Highland gardens, 7047 Franklin Avenue, 323-8500535, $100 . The Grafton (Park Sunset Hotel), 8462 Sunset Blvd, 323-6546470, Ł100. Holloway Motel, Santa Monica Blvd, 323-6542454, $80. Viper room, 8852 Sunset Blvd Rock'n roll at the strip! Partly owned by Johny Depp the Viper room still draws a big and wild crowd, arrive early to avoid queues. The Roxy / Whisky a GoGo, Sunset Blvd 9009/8990 Live acts every night at these classic venues. Barfly, Sunset Blvd A spinoff off the Parisian one! Bar Deluxe, 1710 N Las Palmas avenue, Central Hollywood. Mixed music, huge aquarium hanging down from the ceiling, brothel red interior, quite weird.. Voda bar, 1449 2nd street, Santa Monica, 310-3949774 Fab Martinis in this small but packed stylish bar. A waterfall behind the bar and about a thousand lit candles around the room. The west end, 1301 5th street, Santa Monica. Not much to say about this partyplace except that it seems to be THE place for expat Brits. Cafe del Rey, Marina del Rey, Bar with open fire and good restaurant overlooking the Marina. By Denise G: Rix's - Santa Monica, it's the sophisticated side of LA and lined with beautiful babes, not to mention gorgeous men. 217 - Santa Monica, It's a nightclub right round the corner from Rix's - only worth going on Friday and Saturday's - dance floor and a bar out the back for chillin' and smokin' A boutique night club. Circle Bar - Santa Monica, Great bar to hang out, good vibe and live DJ Sky Bar - Up on Sunset, very exclusive may be difficult to get in Pinks - Santa Monica, boutique nightclub, great place to dance on Thursday night I think that should do you for now, but there is a lot more up in Hollywood, try the Key Club if you want an outrageous night out! And there is an all night cafe bar called Van Gogh's in Santa Monica, that serves bacon, eggs (full English breakfast) etc. and everyone seems to go here at kicking out time for bars and clubs, which incidentally is 2am unless you are at an after hours party! Have fun and be good and if you can't do that then be careful, /D LINKS ![]() ![]() Back to top CONTRIBUTE!:
By MR
and Sanna S LA TOUR The most popular bars and clubs are
concentrated in a relatively small area in the city center east of
Mannerheimintie. The streets Eerikinkatu, Uudenmaankatu and Iso Roobertinkatu,
to the west, are also good areas for going out. Here are some good places of
different kinds: Personal homepage (bar
recommendations with pictures) St
Tropez, Antibes etc might be the business in the summer, but for all year
round nightlife on the Cote D'Azur: Cannes is undisputed. TANTRA
- Close to the Croisette. Nicely designed restaurant that turns into a
sizzling bar around midnight. Largest Sushi plate I've seen and waitors just
smiling when the people beside us all of a sudden just started dancing on
the table. Nightclub upstairs. (picture) CLUB DU 10 - 10 Rue Teissiere
